From Sports Illustrated, a frame-by-frame sequence of Phelps’ touch in the 100m ‘fly. And as to why Olympic times are measured to the hundredth-of-a-second, it’s not because of the Omega timing systems, which are accurate to a thousandth. It’s because of the minute differences in length of the lanes of the pool itself.
