Speedy Delivery
14Oct09
Reading Calvin Trillin’s anecdote about how smart guys were the reason for the recent financial collapse, I was reminded that I wanted to read something by Michael Lewis and decided to order Liar’s Poker, his 1989 book about the last time Wall Street went nuts.
I ordered it approximately an hour and a half ago. It just showed up on my desk.
I have no idea how this happened. Maybe the Zappos purchase has infected Amazon?
Update (10/15) : And today Amazon announced a new same-day delivery option. So that was either part of a pilot program or a “first one’s free” teaser.

What? Really? I ordered shoes from Zappos on Monday morning and they were delivered on Tuesday. Now I’m disappointed.
Something about the speed of this delivery freaks me out.
